Key Responsibilities: Follow hostess opening and closing checklist thoroughly. Maintain guest flow charts to track number of guests to each station and to track volume per hour. Ensure that the entrance to the restaurant has someone there to greet guests at all the time. Ensure that the front of the restaurant is spotless, and the reception desk is tidy at all times. Check on every table to ensure that it is clean, spotless and fully set up, and that all silverware and glassware is spotless before any guests are seated at the table. Check on guests to get feedback on the quality of their meals, service, etc., and share any problems that arise, immediately. Inform supervisor and manager immediately if there is any comment or issue. Pitch in and help in service, whenever the need arises. Have an excellent knowledge about the city and methods of transportation, etc., in order to converse with customers, give helpful suggestions, etc. Be thorough about the knowledge about the operations, services offered, operating hours and all the food and beverage. Estimate waiting times for guests Monitor the guest waiting list and ensure the needs of the guests are met while they are waiting. To be responsible for answering the telephone, booking reservations, confirmation calls. To be responsible for allocate all reservations, arrange tables together to accommodate large parties with the manager’s instructions Stay mainly at the reception desk, handle the reservation system, and control the seating during the operation. Know the restaurant lay out, table numbers, stations, colleagues working during each shift Practice high standards of personal grooming Manage event calendar included all the events as well as group booking calendar. Manage Guest and VIP database, maintaining a guest history profile Do daily reports, guest satisfaction track by the end of the day. Do preparation for the daily brief & update the staff notice board. Track Trip Advisor, and social media comments alike on daily basis. Keep inventory and maintain the menus, towels, napkins etc. Listen for suggestions of improvement from the team members
Qualification/Experience Required
Hotel School Graduate Excellent communication skills in English is essential Ability to communicate effectively with guests and employees at all levels Computer literacy – MS Office, Reservations System Experience in a hostess position in a 5* environment Exposure to 5* standards
